How often should I exercise?

Discovering what works for you and your individual circumstances.

By Gemma Moncur

How often we exercise is not a one answer fits all. Its directly related to your own internal and external circumstances.

Our physical bodies are individual, our mental health is individual, and our lifestyles are individual.

We differ in age, health, and fitness levels, as well as financially, environmentally, and socially. Therefore, our relationship with movement should be unique to our individual self and circumstances. For sure we can be inspired, motivated and driven by the positive trends, articles, family, and friends but at the same being mindful with how we can realistically implement wellness into our unique way of life.

We can get caught up in what’s going on around us, and forget that what works for someone else, is not necessarily ideal for our
own practice.

Here at Moncur Health, we believe that you should aim to exercise daily, to embrace being active every day in one way or another, whether a gym session alone or a walk with a friend.

Give yourself permission to be flexible in terms of structure, if you have the kids at home, consider a family hike, if you are working a full-time job, can you wake early to move before your workday or do you prefer a late session?

If you have health concerns or recovering from injury, have you discussed with your medical practitioner your movement guidelines?

Adaptability is the key to a long and enjoyable relationship with movement.
